Emma and I had our first "walking" adventure outside today. The faces and the experience were classic Emma - goofy, busy, quirky. She found a rock that she had to carry around the whole time. She is running with it "licking the wind" in the lower pictures. She was not a fan of the grass and at one point wouldn't even pick up the rock because it fell in the grass. I kept wanting her to explore all the trees, flowers, and bushes, but she is all tomboy already. She wanted to see the sticks, and water grates, the rocks, the sidewalk, the street. It is hilarious. I was talking to my dear friend Rachel today and she said her daughter Bell is going to be sassy - I asked if you could tel right away. She said yes - I know it's true. Emma is going to be a smiley sassy little hand full!
Rachel also requested some crying pictures!!! Ha Ha! She said all the mom's will feel bad if they think that Emma is that happy all the time. That's hilarious because Emma is becoming quite the independent little fusser. So, I'll try to remember to pull out the camera in those sad situations:)
Love to all...

So many things to explore...
I was in the kitchen yesterday and heard a rattling - look what I found! Emma had climbed THROUGH a little gate in the front of Cooper's kennel. He had just been fed and she LOVES the dog bowls, and exploring, and animals:)
She is quite bright if I may say so myself (!). She was so excited to find the kitty on the box of cat litter. you can see her "pointing" at it. He dad let her try a little raspberry lemonade, and she took to it quite nicely - she loved it. Now she gets mad if she sees me drinking it, becasue I won't give her any. In the last picture she climbed up her highchair, with Elliott's help, and sat down before her feet were in!!!! How cute? She didn't like that for long though.
Today was a wonderfully beautiful spring day here. FINALLY some sunshine, and in the 70's. I went to class, El and Em played hard. Em and I went for a walk, and then spent a good 15 minutes walking up and down and up and down the front steps. She has learned now that she can't just walk down the steps on her own (a few weeks ago she would have walked off the edge of a cliff no problem). She grabbed my hand today and led me over to the stairs (my heart melted) so she could "walk" up them and then "walk" back down them. She also had her first gardening lesson today. Really I just let her play in the dirt I have in a pot on the front stoop. She loved it and could have gone on forever digging and feeling it with her fingers, throwing it out of the pot onto the ground.
Tomorrow? Who knows... love to all...

Play Day
Cooper is HUGE!!! He loves to lick Emma, and she has a love/hate relationship with that. In this second pic Em is trying to fit her "Emma" doll into a litlle plastic tuperware container!
Yesteray she was ALL about climbing in things. I knew ho wmuch she had loved the carseat at Jessica's, so I pulled out a suitcase thinking that might do the trick. She liked it, but not quite as good as the carseat. So a little later I put her in the clothes basket, full of clothes, and then "drove" her around the kitchen and family room. That, she really liked. Soon, she was all the way in the bastket on her own. Notice the fuzzy hair.
Hmmm... I am tired:) So just he pictures will have to do:) Love to all...

Hat Fun
Sorry it has been so long since I've made a post! It felt like a very long tiring week... Hmm, it's only Thursday:)
Em either loves or hates having her hat on. You can see her picking through her toys and getting her "Emma" doll from Great Grandma Patterson. And finally, washing her hands in her apparently portable sink!
She is growing up so fast, learning something new each day. I am affraid her first "real" word may be "NO"!!!! ha ha! But she often makes a face, pushes her lips forward, and with a rasp goes, "no, no , no , no , no" That is what is sounds like at least. She has also learne dto roll her soccer ball back and forth. The past two days she has been obsessed with the carseat at Jessica's. She will climb in and out, and she literally runs to it the minute we get in her door. Yesterday she played "chase" with elliott. She would stand in the family room, just waiting for him to come around the corner. The minute her did she would start RUNNING in the other direction, and screaming and giggling came along with it.
I guess that's about it for now... Lvoe to all...

Kitchen Fun
Look at this grin! I am not sure that is really what she was intending to do, but it's dang cute and funny. She is quite the little stinker to say the least. Here she is "surfing" with Dad yesterday. Only he would think of all these different ways to play with her! Then you see her "washing her hands" in her new kitchenette. Dad taught her that too.
Finally, Dad taught Em to open the fridge, and she LOVES the butter tub, especially when she is teething!!! As a matter-of-fact she opened the fridge today and the butter was already out on the counter, and she was so lost when she opened the fridge and it wasn't there! She held her hands open like, "what?".
Ok, I gotta rest! Emma is sleeping and mom is tired...

Hello?
Emma has finally figured out that she can hold the phone (or the remote control) up to her ear. She gives it to us, we talk into it, then hand it back to her.
Today I went and took a wonderful class downtown.... When I got home Elliott had set-up Em's new "Kitchen" (she got it for her birthday). She LOVES it!!! It comes with a phone of course, blender, oven and drawers, pots, pans, and silverware. There is a sink and I looked over and Emma was holding her hands in it, under the faucet, moving them back and forth - El had show her how to "wash" her hands!!!!
They had also begun a game of "push-me-over". El (or I) sits on the floor, Em comes over and pushed his leg, and he falls over, then she comes and pulls on you to get back up!!!!! I was lying on the floor, with my head resting on the base of the chair, and she came over and pushed on the back of my head to get me to sit up. Dang cute.

Play Time AND Snow!
Emma learned to go backwards on her "scooter"! And she learned to put her "little people" inside. I think in the firstpicture she looks like her Uncle Justin - she does have an underbite like he used to have!!!
Playing with her new birthday puzzles. She likes to carry two different pieces around (any two) the house. She likes to carry things - anything!
It started snowing about 2pm today - lovely. When Em was eating dinner (green beans and tater-tot hotdish) she was reaching to the window the whole time, she was so interested in the white stuff falling swiftly outside. As soon as I got her out of her high chair she was over to the window to look out.

Growing Up
Well our litte girl isjust growing up! The other day I had her clothes hamper down in the family room (doing laundry of course!) and she decided to use it as a "bed" of sorts. She pulled it down, put her 2 new stuffed animals on it and then sat on it with them! How funny! Then she showed me how she can give her bear (Tim) kisses - these are usually pretty drooly:)
Not much else new here.... It's still raining!!!!!!!!!!
Love to all.....

Official Weigh In
Emma had her one year check-up today......
26 pounds and 31 1/2 inches!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is in the 98th percentile for height and 97th percential for weight. Basically she's a very healthy young girl:) She had to get two shots today, but they've moved up to the arm - and she was NOT happy about that. Fortunately two nurses come in at once and do both arms at once. Poor thing..... She cried most of the way home.
A few more wedding pics here. I think it is so cute how Emma is enthralled with Peter and his wheelchair!
Em happy in her dress, Em crying (which seemed very prevelant this weekend!), Em carrying around a box of cereal meant for the Food Shelves (! - but she wasn't crying!), and Emma and her new friend that she made at the back of the church.

Little Bug
Our cute little bug in her cute little bug dress, at Bec and Chris's wedding rehearsal.
The pink dress is at Bec and Chris's wedding on Saturday. Elliott and I stayed out in the hallway with her most of the time, as she has quite a pair of lungs. Not unhappy, just loud:) I know you can see her underpants inthe one pic, but I thought the look on her face was priceless, and SO Emma!
I'll post more wedding pictures tomorrow!
