Sweet Emma

These are some pictures that my brother's fiance Christine, took of Emma while we were on vacation....

Emma's new best-friends..

Emma is IN LOVE with her step-cousins!!!! Here she is with Sienna and Haleigh, but we are missing a picture of Kaia and her. Emma follows them around like a little puppy, and if she gets to sit in one of their lap's she says to me, "mommy, look", with a big 'ol grin on her face! It just melts my heart....

The weather is getting better and we have spent some time at the beach which she LOVES (note the polka-dot bikini)... The poop is still full-force:) Called the nurse this morning and she should be on a white diet - white break, rice, potatoes, yogurt, bananas, apple sauce.... So we are working with that and some Pedialyte!

While taking a nap today I managed to change her diaper without her even waking up, she was so tired out form her 4:30 am wake-up call... She woke Elliott and I up talking about going in the water today! It took major coaxing to get her back to sleep by 6am, for 45 more minutes!

Ok, I am off to the camp fire. Love to all...

Ooops! Somehow the blog posted before I got anything written down! So... we are at Fishtrap Lake in Mid-Minnesota for the week, and it is pouring rain and POOP. Yes, it is true, our poor girl has the poops and she has NEVER been sick like this!!!!! We had 2 blowouts in the car and I have washed out three pairs of shorts so far. Add on top of it that I feel terrible for her and her "owie bummy" which she creams and bawls when I try to clean. It just breaks my heart...

Ok, enough about poop:) The other pictures below are of Emma's first boat rise, which she LOVED. And her first fishing experience (the one that looks like a picture of my butt).... She was SCARED of the fish when dad pulled it out of the water!!!!!! The picture is of her hiding behind my legs! Silly girl.

She has however LOVED playing with all the big girl cousins and just stares at them with gaga eyes. This morning at 7:20 am she wanted to go outside and see Papa and Nana right away, which was cute. We are WAY uphill, over the river and through the woods, from their cabin!

I guess that's it from here - as I look out onto the rainy - but very peaceful - lake!

Fish Trap

Scaredy Cat!

Ever since her train terror, and then accidentally turning on the vacuum, Emma is a scaredy cat! I was cleaning yesterday morning to get ready for my friend Rachel to visit from Salt Lake City, and I went into our bathroom when I was done vacuuming, and there was Emma hiding behind the toilet!!! First of all, GROSS!!! I asked her what she was doing and she told me she was hiding from the vacuum. HOW CUTE????

The last pic is of Em and Rachel yesterday.... Emma was enamoured:)

BIG Owie

Poor Emma, bad Mommy.... Kind-of...
We have been letting Emma help us clear the table lately. And yesterday after breakfast she was carrying a plate to the sink - and I had a moment of hesitation as I saw her carrying it on one end with the other end facing the floor. In that second she dropped it, it landed on her foot and split into a few pieces.... It had cut the end of her toe, splitting through the end of her toe nail!!!!!! I remained calm as I loved her and she cried. But she didn't cry for too long, and was very worried about the plate! I had to take her to see Dad, to see if he thought she might need stitches! It's pretty deep, but we don't think that is the case. Poor girl! However, she doesn't seem much fazed.

reverse psychology

Lately Emma won't pose or smile, or even look at the camera when we want to take her picture. In addition she will barely kiss her dad goodnight.... So Elliott decided the other day to tell her "Don't kiss me, I don't want a kiss..." And sure enough she ran right up to him and planted MANY kisses! Then, "No hugs, I don't want any hugs..." And sure enough, hugs with some to spare! So, after a whole day of "last day of school" pictures with Emma not looking at me (here she is in her outfit and with her daycare lady Carol) - yesterday I finally figured it out! She was wearing a new shirt from her God-Mama Tosha and I said "Don't look at me Emma, don't say cheese, don't smile....." BEST pictures we've gotten in MANY weeks. SILLY GIRL!!!!

To the Zoo

Papa, Nana, Great Grandma, Emma and I all went to the zoo last weekend - and Emma had a blast! She found a bear at the gift store that she fell in love with. She is a stinker lately when it comes to pictures and she REFUSED to even look at the camera when Papa was holding her!

This GREAT action shot is me and Emma chasing each other through the bamboo hanging curtain... But in this picture Emma is on her way DOWN - she totally bit it! But she barely even paused before she was up and running again.

A cute story.... The two of us were coloring yesterday and she was watching me trace some mountains in the coloring book. Then, she said "Good job Mommy, good job!" CUTE!!!!!

Train Terror

Poor Emma!  The two of us and Grandma Loerch went out to dinner last night, and ate outside.  We could hear the train coming and got excited, and Emma too (she loves trains)....  As soon as it got in front of the restaurant's patio it let its horn blow - loud two times.....  She looked at me, her eyes went back and forth a bit, her chin quivered, and her eyes grew loud....  And she SCREAMED, and the tears came and she reached for me, screaming at the top of her lungs with terror in her eyes (seriously), she literally way scrambling out of her high chair and just couldn't get in my arms fast enough.  I was getting tears in my eyes, for her, and all the other tables were saying "aw poor girl".  After a minute she said she wanted to go inside, and she cried still a bit as we watched the train go by from inside the restaurant.  As soon as it was done she said "OK now" and we went back outside.  OH!  My heart just sank to see that look in her eyes and see her terrorized actions....

She is over it now thought, and laughs saying "train scared Emma"...

Playing "Ring-around-the-Rosie" is a new favorite of hers... And Dad realized she can hold Cooper's tail and the three of them can play!

Finally, having some tea with Papa Loerch...

Tonight Emma was sitting with her Dad, getting slivers out of her baby's foot (just like her own!) and he said "Can I have a hug?"  Emma said, "In a minute..."!!!!  Guess she hears that a bit around here:)
