Emma.... she is in Kindergarten!!! Lying in the crook of my arm last night, after her first day of school, she said, "Mom, I can't believe I am in Kindergarten..." SIGH!!! She is has said a couple of different times in the past couple of days, signifying how excited she really is about the whole thing. It is like pulling teeth to get ehr to tell us anything about her day - Elliott gets frustrated - but I am certain it is totally normal. Bit by bit she did spill the beans a bit tonight.
She had music yesterday and art today (she gave her drawing to a boy names Connor who is on her soccer team and also rides the bus with her). Her favorite thing is playing outside and she has figured out how to swing form one monkey bar to the next (but they are square so it is really hard!). Her least favorite part of the day is sitting down. She has a special sign she has to make with her hand if she needs to use the restroom, and she takes a pass with her and goes all on her own down the hall. She is DYING to eat hot lunch, so I caved and told her she could eat it on Fridays (I know my sweet daughter and I know what is served for lunch - I'd rather have her eat her cold Annie's mac-n-cheese that I pack her, etc.!).
Hmmmm - what else?
Since I had my first day back teaching at Gustavus on Tuesday, Elliott took the day off so he could be there when she got on and off the bus. I was excited to walk her down today and to pick her up - she informed me that you only needed to be walked on the FIRST day, and she was certainly not happy that I was there waiting for her tonight when she got off the bus!
Sweet girl was exhausted tonight and sound asleep by 7:15... I look forward to many adventures in this new chapter in our lives!!!
All the school age kids down at the bus stop
Me and the girls in our "first day" finest!
I couldn't leave Olive out of the loop... She is a climbing machine! Into, on top of, and under, any and every thing!!! She is FAST when crawling and i often find her up a couple of stairs or standing on the fireplace mantle. I have also found her up on our big red rocks when I have been out working in the yard. She is standing up on her own all the time now, continues to talk up a storm and I am fairly certain she is often yelling at one or all of us!
She is VERY interested in eating our food these days, and most certainly likes salty foods! Today she ate tuna salad with me for lunch, and when I set it away because I thought she's had enough, she threw a fit until I gave her more! While she did have blueberries and squash tonight, she ate just as much of our stir-fry! And this afternoon as I was picking the veggies from my garden I gave her a tomato to keep her busy - she ate the whole thing!!!
Gotta get some rest... Love to all!
