May Days

Olive and Emma are a growing and changing bunch!  Last night on the car ride home from my mom's (I picked the girls up when I was finished teaching) Emma was talking about "defeating" a group of wolves (from "Alpha and Omega") and lately when she shows us something she will say "voila".  Her vocabulary and the things that she knows and retells me simply blow me away.  It is so fun to witness her growing and learning and becoming her own person.  Well, Emma has always kind of been her own person!
Olive is also growing - literally!  I can't believe how big she is getting - her feet are starting to hang over her car-seat!  She is enjoying eating, well, that is actually an understatement!  She ATTACKS her spoon of food.  I will have to get some video, because she opens her mouth as wide as she can, makes a an excited sound and then pushes her head forward to get the food in her mouth.  She makes me laugh out loud when she is eating - I love it!  Peas, sweet potatoes, peaches, green beans, bananas, avocado, prunes, squash - all things I have been able to mix-up for her at home thanks to the Baby Bullet from Nana and Papa Jim!
Olive is very similar to Emma in the way she puts EVERYTHING in her mouth - EVERYTHING!  She is a chewer - she especially likes tags and will find them on just about anything (Emma was not particularly fond of tags however).
The other day I had Olive on the floor and before I knew it she had the big red Kong dog toy in her mouth, and I was taken back to Emma as a baby and reminded how much she loved Elvis' kong!  In the picture below you can Olive almost on all fours- while I am thankful that she is healthy and will be able to crawl, I am not in any hurry for her to be crawling.  However, I think she is going to be taking off within a couple of weeks - waaaaaa!!!!

Auntie Holly sent Emma the most wonderful birthday gift - a butterfly habitat!  You send for the caterpillars and then watch as they transform into the chrysalis and then in to butterflies.  It has been a source of such excitement each morning to see how they have transformed!  Emma lat them go on Wednesday...

 One BIG happy family!
When Dad gets up with us in the mornings we MIGHT have brownies for breakfast!
We got Elliott a fire pit for his birthday and broke it in a week ago - s'mores and all!  It was so nice to be outside in the quiet and enjoy each other's company - I look forward to many summer nights around the camp fire...
love to all
